These terms govern your use of mylifecv.co.uk ("MyLifeCV", "we", "us", "our") and any account you create with us. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these terms.
MyLifeCV lets you build a timeline of your life and, if you choose, publish it as a public web page at an address containing your name. You can build your timeline privately for free; publishing a public page requires a paid plan.
We may change, improve or withdraw features of the service over time. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance.
Page addresses ("slugs") are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Claiming a slug does not give you any trademark or other ownership right in the name itself.
You must not claim a slug in order to impersonate another person, squat on a name you have no genuine connection to, or resell it. We may reclaim, reassign or amend a slug where we reasonably believe it infringes someone's rights, impersonates someone, is misleading, or is being held in bad faith. Where practical, we will contact you first.
You are responsible for everything you add to your timeline and publish on your page. You must not publish content that:
Content about other people. Life stories naturally mention family, friends and colleagues. If you name other living people on a public page, you are responsible for what you say about them. Keep it accurate and fair, and remove it promptly if they object. We may remove content about a third party at their reasonable request.
We may remove content or unpublish a page that we reasonably believe breaches these terms, and in serious or repeated cases suspend or close the account.
Published pages are public and deliberately built to be indexed by search engines. You can unpublish at any time and your page comes down from our servers straight away, but we cannot remove cached or archived copies held by search engines or other third parties. Publish only what you are happy to be publicly visible.
You own your content. By publishing, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and distribute your content solely to operate and promote the service — for example, rendering your public page, generating previews and share images, and including your page in our sitemap and search features. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual backup copies which are deleted in the normal course.
The MyLifeCV name, site design and software are owned by us and may not be copied or reused.
The annual plan is £24 per year, billed in advance. There is no contract and you can cancel at any time. The plan renews automatically each year unless cancelled; we will send a reminder before renewal. If you cancel, your page stays published until the end of the period you have paid for, then reverts to private.
The lifetime plan is a single payment of £99 with nothing further to pay. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of the MyLifeCV service. If we ever permanently discontinue the service, we will give lifetime plan holders at least 90 days' notice and a way to export their timeline.
You can cancel your annual plan at any time from your account; cancellation stops the next renewal. As a UK consumer you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period on purchases. Because publishing your page is a digital service that begins immediately, by publishing within the cooling-off period you consent to immediate supply and acknowledge that any refund may be reduced proportionally for the service already provided.
Beyond your statutory rights, payments are non-refundable, but if something has gone genuinely wrong, contact us and we will be reasonable.
A profile may be placed into legacy mode after the account holder passes away, on request from a verified family member or a person nominated by the account holder. In legacy mode the timeline is preserved as a memorial and managed by the nominated person, who takes on the responsibilities in these terms for that page. We may decline or reverse legacy requests where we cannot reasonably verify them or where there is a dispute between family members.
You can close your account at any time, which deletes your profile and timeline as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, are used unlawfully, or put the service or other people at risk. For anything other than serious breaches, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.
We work hard to keep MyLifeCV fast, secure and available, but the service is provided "as is" and we cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We do not guarantee that your page will achieve any particular ranking or placement on Google or any other search engine — indexing and ranking are controlled by the search engines, not us.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of important photos and material you upload.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited under law. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period (or £99 for lifetime plan holders). Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when they last changed. If we make a significant change, we will notify you by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
